background

With the nationwide protests sparked on behalf of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, I was inspired to finally do something. For years, I had been wanting to join the NAACP, start going to a black church—something tangible to finally begin educating (and un-educating) myself. I began having conversations with a black coworker, and we decided to start a podcast!

—— process

The premise of this podcast is to invite anyone curious enough into the room to listen in on our conversation about race. As individuals from nearly opposite backgrounds, we thought we might just be a good microcosm of the conversation America needs to (and is struggling) to have.

Here’s our description:
”Step inside the conversation of a white girl and a black man from vastly different parts of the country getting to know each other’s experiences. We’re documenting our journey of learning about the other’s America. The conversation starts around what appears to be the central tension of race in the US: White and Black Americans. But we expand to include curiosity and dialogue around all races, because we know America and the truth about race is not just black and white.

Our hope for this podcast is to unearth how to have more productive conversations and change attitudes along the way.
